Lone Star Taqueria first started in 1994 and over a decade later the restaurant is still serving Salt Lake Valley with some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine. They have become so famous they have featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Inns & Dives as well as in the illustrious Sunset magazine as the "West's best taco." Despite how popular they are, they have never ceased to be an essential part of the Salt Lake Valley community.

The Restaurant itself takes take out orders for those wishing to eat at home. For those wanting a fun night out, the restaurants hours change depending the season. Winter hours are weekdays 11 am to 9 pm and weekends 11 am to 10pm. Summer hours are typically 11 am to 9:30 pm weekdays and 11 am to 10:30 pm weekends. It is open all week except for Sundays when it is closed all day.

Their menu includes Mexican classics such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, Nachos, and homemade tamales. For most dishes customers can choose their own meat from their options of fish, shrimp, marinated pork, roasted pork, green chili pork, steak, shredded beef, and broiled chicken. For those non meat-eaters there is also an egg and veggie option. Their side dishes include the traditional homemade tortilla chips, guacamole, bean dip, rice, beans, chile verde, roasted Jalapenos, corn tortillas, flour tortillas and Jalapeno Mayo. Their drinks include assorted Mexican bottled and draft beers along with classic coke fountain drinks.

For those who want to take the tastes of Lone Star Taqueria home the restaurant offers meat, rice, beans, salsa, Guacamole and more in larger quantities. They sell quarts, pints and even half pints of everyone's favorite ingredients. As for tortillas they serve both corn and flour tortillas by the dozen.

The restaurant has both outdoor as well as indoor seating for people to relax and enjoy the food. The overall atmosphere is lively, but comfortable and their service is friendly and fast.
